Abby has a deep love of learning and of igniting that passion for learning in others. Abby offers a compassionate, individualized, and engaging approach to learning. She loves the deep feeling of satisfaction she receives from knowing she helped someone to reach their highest learning potential.
Her first position was as an interventionist, which helped spark her interest in working with exceptional learners. Abby has worked both as a general education and special education teacher, which has helped her to develop a balanced teaching perspective.
She has been an educator in a variety of public and private school settings since 2001. After graduating from Mount Holyoke College in 2001, Abby moved to Raleigh, North Carolina, to begin her teaching career. In 2006, Abby received her Master's degree in Special Education (with a focus in Learning Disabilities) from North Carolina State University. In 2020, Abby earned her Ph.D. in Special Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Abby is also a trained facilitator for the Community Resiliency Model (CRM)."
